I love creating anything that has to do with pom poms. They’re fluffy, cute, fun, and can be made with virtually any type of material or fabric. So I thought I’d try my hand at making some pom pom hair ties with one of my favorite materials: tulle! I loved the way they turned out, especially because of their versatility. Wear them in your hair, as a bracelet around your wrist, or as an accessory to decorate your bags, shoes, or attire with. They also make great gifts or party favors for kids!

    Description
Wrap tulle around each side of the pom pom maker. I found that wrapping the tulle around twice gives your pom pom a thicker, fluffier look.

After you've wrapped both ends of the pom pom maker, close both sides into the center and cut off the excess tulle.

Cut the wrapped tulle down the middle of the pom pom maker on both sides.

    Description
Once the tulle has been cut down the center around the entire pom pom maker, cut a piece of tulle about 10 in. long and cut it in half vertically. Pull this piece of tulle through the middle of the pom pom maker and tie a tight knot on the top and bottom of the pom pom maker. This is the center of your pom pom that holds it together, so make sure it's secure and tight.

Gently take the pom pom maker apart by opening both sides and removing the center.

Trim the pom pom of any excess tulle that's sticking out so that it's even on all sides.

Fluff your pom pom with your hands so the tulle is spread out and forms a ball shape.

    Description
Cut a piece of elastic about 6 in. long. If you are creating a hair tie for hair that is thicker, you can cut the elastic to be longer. Take needle and thread and sew a backstitch on the elastic to enclose it into a circle.

    Description
Place the center of the sewed elastic directly underneath the pom pom area where the two pieces of tulle are sticking out. Use those two pieces of tulle to tie a tight knot around the elastic.
