Wood Burned Keychains

If you’re new to wood burning, I think this is a great, simple project to start with. Plus, these keychains make the perfect small gift for anyone--men and women! The geometric patterns are a mixture of modern and tribal. You can even come up with your own unique designs to burn into the wood!

    Gather your materials.

    Use a pencil to sketch out your design. You can always erase any stray lines later.

    Go over the design with your wood burning tool. Create thin lines by using the tool straight on, and burn larger areas using the heated tip’s flat sides.

    Spread wood glue on the back of one of your rectangles, and lay another on top of it.

    Hold the pieces together as the glue dries so that they are flush. I used a couple clothespins, but you could also place a heavy, flat object like a book on top of them.

    Once the glue has dried, use a hand drill to create a hole near the top of your wooden piece.

    Next, open up one of the small split rings, and insert it through the hole.

    Attach the key ring, and these keychains are ready for gifting! Make sure to keep one for yourself too.
