Copper Lotus Votives

I am in love with these little lotus votives! The copper embossing sheet is so easy to work with, and provides a brilliant reflective surface for the flame to bounce off of. You can leave the petals flat for a more graphic look, or curve them slightly to soften the shape.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

    Gather your materials and download the template included in the materials list above.

    Cut out the petal shapes from the template, and trace the shapes with the stylus tool included with the copper sheet. This will emboss the metal slightly so that you can tell where to cut. Make ten of each petal, and two of the pentagon bases.

    Use a pair of scissors to cut out the shapes you just traced.

    Dull down the sharp edges with a metal file. File in one direction, instead of back and forth, to get the best edge.

    Bend the large copper petals according to the fold line on the template.

    Use a dab of jewelry and metal glue to attach each of the five large petals to the pentagon base.

    Attach the smaller petals in the same way, curving them up slightly after attaching them to the base.

    Once the glue has dried, your votives are ready to hold a glowing tealight!
